6 Benefits of Listening To Yourself

I had a heart-to-heart talk with a girl I met at school.
Tamara was her name.
She was taller than me.
Petite.
She had a face that was full of hopes.

We discussed for a short while because I knew there was a reason for her to call me.
She started telling me how she had regrets while being in school.
She wasn't proud of boxing herself in and not leaping out of her comfort zone.
She didn't have any skills, and nor did she have any good friends.
She checked herself this year and discovered she had low self-esteem and lacked in personal development.

I asked her what she enjoyed doing—her hobbies.
Specialties.
Interests.

She mentioned drawing—though she wasn't definite on that.
Whew. I didn't feel sorry for Tamara.
She didn't need pity.
She couldn't understand that she was ripe for the taking.

The atmosphere felt rather bleak from her perspective.

"It's too late for me," she said.
I laughed. "Who told you it's too late?"

"I feel that way."
"Like I'm not doing what I'm supposed to."

That sentence caught me.
I felt it because I had been there.
At some point in your life, you leave the fast-paced movement and wonder where you are going.

Why were you created?
Why are you here?

The questions start flooding in.
At first, it isn't apparent, but it gets better.

The burning questions you have are the stepping stones that gear you toward your destiny and purpose.

It doesn't mean you are lost.
What it does mean is that you need sheer clarity.

Here are some prompts I got from listening to myself.

  1. It Helped Me Analyze
As humans, we are lucky to have the ability to reason.
If you know you need to change something and have the power to do so, then do it.
It might not be easy, but you can stretch and get things done.
  2. It Drew Me Closer To God
Lol, I don’t mean going to church here.
For the sake of your inner being, you need to shed inner light, strength, and grace.
It will benefit you if you learn to talk to God more.
  3. It Helped Me Know Myself Better
There is a reason you feel discontent. You need to know your true self. You need to understand who you are.
To start with, you can highlight your weaknesses and strengths.
You can also learn more about your personality type.
Even knowing your star sign is helpful. Start loving yourself early, and it will help in the long run.
  4. It Prompted Me To Start Executing My Goals And Dreams.
The truth is, there is no perfect time to start working on your dreams.
    Your dreams are already yours.
You might lack the resources to execute them, but there is no excuse not to start.
    So? Start!
  5. It Made Me Stronger.
It is easier said than done.
There will be opposition to you out there.
    Rejections will surface.
Life will get exhausting. But, as long as you commit and never give up, it will all work out.
  6. It Made Me See The Positive Side
Each day is a blessing that comes with its gifts.
Be on the lookout for the things and people that bring light to you.
And when it’s all over, try to get some sleep and be geared for the next day.

There is no perfect period.
You start living when you decide to do more than exist.

Don't overthink it. Just take a step.
